Cantharis
[Spanish fly]

Illnesses from inflamatories with inflammation and burns with raw, burning, scalding pain. Cystitis and Urinary Track Infection: with intolerable constant frequent urge to urinate in small amounts; painful urging to urinate with burning, cutting and scalding pain in bladder and extending to urethra; urine scalds; burning pain before and during urination; aching after urine; acute and chronic inflammation with constant and intolerable urge to urinate in small amounts; cutting pain in bladder after urination extending to kidney. Skin: blisters and blister-like eruptions, burns, scalds. Burning, raw pain in general. Burns: pain of, with raw, burning, scalding.

  • Blisters: to prevent before they form if friction is probable cause.
  • Kidney Stones: pain like a knife stabbing in all directions, burning pain in bladder and intolerable urge to urinate.

Modalities:
< Urinating- before, during and after; drinking cold water or coffee; sound of water; right-side; touch, approach; bright objects.
> Rubbing; warmth; belching, farting; cold applications; alcohol, wine.

Disposition: Anxious and restlessness, anger and irritability, ending in rage. Sexual mania, excitement during pains. Attempts to do something constantly, but accomplishes nothing. Hydrophobia.

Carbo vegetabilis
[vegetable charcoal]

Illness, collapse and weakness from poisons, carbon monoxide, shock, stress and injury, blood loss, surgery, alcohol, fish (especially spoiled), vegetables, ice-water, salt, salted meats, butter. Persons who have never recovered from effects of some previous illness or injury. Mental and physical weakness, lassitude, sluggishness. Difficulty thinking and they may feel anxious and restless especially at night. There is sudden circulatory collapse with loss of fluids, blood stagnation, weak pulse, and external icy coldness and cold breath. There can be oozing of blood from the mucous membranes, and exhausting sweats. They may suffer respiratory difficulties in breathing. People who have never fully recovered from the effects of some previous illness.

  • Anesthesia: for the bad effects of general anesthesia during surgery where the lack of oxygen causes problems. [30c, 3 doses within 2 days.]

Modalities:
< Loss of fluids; warmth, warm room, warm-damp weather, getting overheated; motion; lying down; night, 4-5 p.m.; during and after eating, rich and fatty food, butter, milk, coffee, wine, shell fish, spoiled fish, poultry, icy drinks; pressure of cloths.
> Open air, fanning, cool air; repose, lying down; belching; elevating feet.

Disposition: Lacks interest in anything; quick changes in mood. Lazy, sluggish, becomes easily embarrassed in company with easy flushing. Fear of the dark and public speaking. Anxiety with apprehension and uncertainty. Persons who have never recovered from effects of some previous illness or injury. Lack of reaction to homeopathic remedies. Sudden loss of memory.

Must have air and windows opened. Chilly. Blue pallor and lips. Extremities are blue and mottled.

Causticum
[potash prep.-acris sine kali]

Ill affects of steroids/cortisone, burns, suppression of skin eruptions, fright, grief, and sorrow. Progressive weakness of muscular strength and gradual paralysis. Rawness or soreness of scalp, throat, respiratory tract, rectum, anus, urethra, vagina, uterus. Local paralysis of single organs or parts. They improve for a time, then comes to a standstill.

  • Bladder Incontinence: weakness of bladder sphincter; involuntary when coughing, sneezing, blowing the nose and laughing; bedwetting in first sleep.
  • Cystitis: burning pain in urethra, during urination, and after sex; numbness, sensation absent when urinating; urine with clotted blood.
  • Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.): gait is reeling, wavering, tottering, staggering, unsteady, and difficulty walking; awkwardness and trembling walking; when walking joints feel painfully tense; unsteadiness of muscles in forearm and hand.
  • Paralytic Weakness: with fatigue; of extremities, joints, upper limbs, wrist; paralysis of single parts or nerves; of the tongue with stammering; lips.
  • Paralysis: is local, of single organs or parts with loss of muscular strength and gradual weakening of muscles; stiff joints; from exhausting disease or severe mental shock; hemiplegia (one sided paralysis).
  • Vision: dark circles with points of light; white circles then green spots; dim in the morning on waking better from washing face, and worse rubbing eyes; double vision; looking upward and sideways to right; foggy at the beginning of incipient cataract; illusion of insects; sees sparks on winking.

Modalities:
< Dry, cold winds, in fine clear weather, cold, cold air, cold draft, dry weather, dry cold air, change of weather, from warm to cold, exposure to wet, winter; bathing in cold water, getting wet; morning.
> Damp and warmth weather, rain, warm air, wet weather, cloudy weather, cold weather, open air, warm air, heat, summer; cold drinks.

Disposition: Fiery intense type. The true idealist with deep empathy for the suffering ones and deep felt sense of justice, and a highly analytical mind. Extremely rebellious idealism and can be disillusioned. Political immorality and exploitation outrages them. They may feel so upset and angry at the TV or radio news that they cannot indulge too often. but they may write many letters to newspapers and politicians to right social injustices. Dedicated to the truth and tends to be a loner since they are too intense and moral for most people. Their concern can also be worry and are anxious about others. Strong sense of social justice and compassion for others, and sympathetic.

Slim and wiry. Face angular, with deep facial creases.

Ledum palustre
[marsh tea, wild rosemary]

Illnesses from toxicity from vaccinations, after affects of steroid injections, ill effects of puncture wounds, insect or animals bites and stings, recent or chronic injuries and bruises, and ill effects of alcohol, and suppressed discharges. After affects of Steroid Injections. Arthritic and Rheumatic pain starts in lower limbs and moves upward; especially for small joints pain which are swollen, and stiff; nodes in the foot and heel, knees, skin over joints with purple puffiness; painful knots; pain starts in lower limbs and moves upward; especially small joints which are swollen, stiff, with weariness; painful tendons; painful soles can hardly walk; drawing pain in long bones; rheumatic right hip and left shoulder. Redness with swelling and throbbing pain. Puncture wounds, especially soles and palms; it prevents tetanus; needle and stab wounds; wounded parts become cold, puffed, pale, mottled.

  • Joints: painful, cold and edemic swelling; swollen ankles; easily sprained ankles; aching wrist especially in the evening while sitting; tumors of the wrist; drawing pain in joints after wine. Hip pain and disease in right hip joint; gouty pain; pain standing; pressing pain of hip and thigh bone, worse from motion.
  • Knee Pain and Stiffness: on beginning to move, while walking; rheumatic pain; with swelling and edema; pain extending to hip; tearing pain from warmth of bed; sore patella while walking; trembling knee while sitting; worse warmth, better cold applications.
  • Lumbago: aching pain and stiffness on motion from rising from a seat, from sitting and long after; weakness in lumbar region.

Modalities:
< Heat, warm bed, stove; wearing too many clothes; movement, walking, motion of joints; alcohol, wine; evening, night; touch; injury; feather bed;
> Ice cold applications and baths for ailments (especially soaking feet in cold water); cold dry weather, cold air; at rest; lying on face.

Disposition: Optimistic and cheerful temperament. Desire for mental activity and ideas on closing eyes. Can be discontented especially in the daytime. Vehement anger. Desire for solitude, avoids company and can have a distaste for even friends at times. Some fear they will die if they go to sleep and anxiety of conscience in dreams.

Feels cold and chilly most of the time. Tends to look pale and delicate, or stout and robust with red face and enlarged pupils. Weakness and coldness with lowered resistance, but aggravated by heat.
